On March 3rd2023 we launched Women in Tech®Burundi in Bujumbura 🇧🇮.

Our aim is to “bridge the gap between women and men in technology” in Burundi. Its launch comes at the right time during this period when the State has strengthened its commitment to fighting the digital divide.

The activities of this Chapter will consist of “promoting Burundian women in the ICT ecosystem and the Blockchain introduction programme”, explains the Minister of Communication, Information and Communication Technologies and Media.

Women in Tech in Burundi has four pillars: education, social inclusion, business and advocacy. It also supports “projects aimed at the inclusion of women in technology”, said Chris Clement Igiraneza, founder of Kit-hub, and Director of Women in Tech®Burundi

Developing digital literacy: Women in Tech in Burundi is part of the cooperation between WOMEN IN TECH – Global Movement and Gitega, aiming to develop digital culture especially for Burundian women. Its launch was preceded by a hearing between the Minister of Communication, Information and Communication Technologies and Media and a delegation from Women In Tech Global led by Ayumi Moore Aoki, founder of the organisation.
